Springbok captain Siya Kolisi marked his return to Durban with a try as the Sharks beat the Glasgow Warriors at Kings Park on Saturday.
Kolisi crossed the line for one of the Sharks’ three scores, helping them to a 28-24 victory over the URC defending champions.
Welcoming back several Springboks, the Sharks showed promising moments with ball in hand but took some time to find their cohesion and jogged off with a 15-12 half-time lead.
Aphelele Fassi was named MVP for his well-rounded performance and the Sharks fullback was joined on the try-scorers list by replacement scrumhalf Grant Williams, while flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse contributed with three penalties and two conversions.
Warriors scrumhalf George Horn scored both of Glasgow’s first-half tries, and the Sharks will be disappointed to have surrendered two bonus points to the defending champs when they leaked tries to flank Rory Darge and replacement hooker Johnny Matthews in the final two minutes.
The Sharks will aim to build on their momentum when they host 2022-23 champions Munster next week, while Glasgow will look to bounce back against the Stormers in Cape Town.
