Finn Russell is among a trio of regulars recalled by Gregor Townsend to battle the Springboks at Murrayfield on Sunday, with Sharks hooker Dylan Richardson also part of the matchday squad.

Vice-captain Russell, halfback partner Ben White and Toulouse utility back Blair Kinghorn have returned to the starting lineup to give Scotland a significant boost for the clash with the world champions.

Russell and White have been selected as the halfback pairing, while Top 14 and European Champions Cup winner Kinghorn is on the right wing.

The rest of the backline is unchanged from the Fiji win with Huw Jones and captain, Sione Tuipulotu, combining once again in midfield.

After topping the all-time try scoring charts for Scotland under hot pursuit from Darcy Graham, Duhan van der Merwe will start on the left wing. Fresh from a debut against Fiji last weekend, Tom Jordan will start at fullback.

In the forwards, there are no changes from the team that defeated Fiji 57-17.

Durban-born Sharks hooker Richardson will face South Africa for the first time in his career as part of a bench that features a six-two split between forwards and backs. This comes as the Springboks named a matchday squad featuring seven replacement forwards.
