Former Vodacom Bulls forward Jacques du Plessis has departed Bath due to “personal family reasons,” the Premiership club has confirmed.
Du Plessis initially joined Bath from the Vodacom Bulls in March after a lengthy period on the sidelines recovering from injury.
During his short stint with the West Country club, the 31-year-old made five appearances, including a run off the bench in Bath’s season-opening win over Northampton Saints, which turned out to be his final game in the famous blue, black, and white jersey.
“I and the club wish Jacques the very best for the future and we wish him and his family very well,” Johann van Graan said, adding his personal support to the departing forward.
Du Plessis started his career with the Bulls in 2013, making 30 Super Rugby appearances in his first stint in Pretoria before moving to Montpellier.
After a much-anticipated return in 2021, the towering lock played just 10 games for the Pretoria outfit. Hampered by hamstring and knee issues, Du Plessis will continued his rehabilitation at English Premiership outfit Bath.
